Xiamen conducts research to enhance competitiveness and reduce port charges

To enhance the competitiveness of Xiamen Port, the Xiamen Municipal Government is conducting research on reducing port charges and improving port competitiveness. In the future, the charging standards of Xiamen Port will be further reduced to attract more inland goods to enter and exit Xiamen Port.

The throughput of Xiamen Port has steadily increased in the first half of this year. In the first six months, the cargo throughput was 40.2102 million tons, an increase of 15.5% year-on-year, and the container throughput was 2.198 million TEUs, an increase of 14.4% year-on-year. In response to the slowdown in Xiamen Port's throughput growth in the first half of the year, Deputy Mayor Pan Shijian has requested all relevant departments to carefully study response measures, make great efforts to solve existing difficulties and problems, and ensure the comprehensive achievement of this year's production targets.

Pan Shijian proposed that all departments and enterprises in the port should cooperate with the municipal government to carry out research on reducing port fees and improving port competitiveness. They should analyze and study various fee items, standardize port fee items, and promote the development of port production. We need to carefully clarify the ideas for expanding the supply market in the second half of the year, plan practical and feasible implementation plans, and achieve a combination of point and surface, going global and inviting in, and combining long-term and short-term plans. We should actively expand the sea and land hinterland markets of Xiamen Port and attract more goods to enter and exit Xiamen Port.
