The research group of the Institute of Ocean Development Strategy of the State Oceanic Administration released the "China Ocean Development Report" on the 22nd, stating that by 2010, China's annual shipbuilding capacity will reach 21 million deadweight tons.
The report states that by 2010, the mainstream ship types independently developed and built in China will achieve standardization and branding, and have the ability to independently design high-tech ships and marine engineering equipment. They will break through the bottleneck of insufficient production capacity and weak independent development capabilities of high-power marine engines and other supporting products. The main ships independently developed and built will reach the international advanced level, forming an annual production capacity of 17 million deadweight tons.
In addition, the report predicts that by 2010, the annual production capacity of low and medium speed diesel engines for ships in China will reach 4.5 million kilowatts and 110 units respectively, basically meeting the domestic shipbuilding demand during the same period. At that time, China will have a group of specialized marine equipment production enterprises with strong international competitiveness. The loading rate of mainstream ship types with localized supporting equipment will reach 60%, and the world share of shipbuilding output will increase from the current 18% to over 25%.
The report states that by around 2020, the overall technological level and independent innovation capability of China's shipbuilding industry will enter the international forefront, becoming a world shipbuilding power.
The report also points out that compared with advanced levels abroad, China still lags behind advanced shipbuilding countries in terms of ship performance and structural research, and some key technologies are still in a blank or backward state. At present, the bottlenecks faced by China's shipbuilding industry in independent innovation mainly include: the inability of common and basic ship technologies to meet the requirements of the rapid development of the shipbuilding industry; The existing mechanism and system are not conducive to enhancing the independent innovation capability of the shipbuilding industry.
