Recently, Zhoushan Port and Zhenjiang Port signed a long-term cooperation framework agreement. According to the agreement, both parties will build a multi-level, large-scale service, and high-efficiency circulation pattern suitable for the development of both parties based on the principles of "advantages linkage, coordinated development, mutual benefit, and win-win", jointly operate the "sea to river" and "river to sea" logistics channels, and form a customer service system along the Yangtze River with Zhoushan Port and Zhenjiang Port as gateways and bases.
The Laotangshan Port Area, under the jurisdiction of Zhoushan Port, mainly provides water and water transfer services for imported bulk cargo in the Yangtze River Basin. It can complete over 5 million tons of load reduction (addition) operations for Panamax and below bulk cargo ships throughout the year. It is expected that by the end of 2008, the fifth phase of the Laotangshan project will provide loading, unloading, and transfer operations for Cape of Good Hope ships, further improving the "sea to river" capability. Zhenjiang Port is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal, and is an important comprehensive port for opening up to the outside world in the Yangtze River Delta. It is also one of the main hub ports of the country. The two major ports under Zhenjiang Port, Dagang and Longmen, have 14 deep-water berths of over 30000 tons, and the economic hinterland of the port covers the Yangtze River and Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal basins. The third phase of the Zhenjiang Port Dagang project, a key national project during the 11th Five Year Plan period, will be fully completed by the end of this year.
The agreement stipulates that both parties will achieve logistics and service docking, and provide priority berthing and rate discounts for intermediate ships and second leg ships under the same service conditions, in order to shorten demurrage time and reduce operating costs. Establish a coordination and liaison mechanism to expand new areas of cooperation. Zhenjiang Port also guarantees to actively organize return cargo sources for second leg ships arriving at the port, striving to form a virtuous cycle of second leg distribution supply chain
