In the first half of this year, Quanzhou Port continued to maintain a good development momentum, with container and cargo throughput reaching a historic high. Quanzhou Port has completed a cargo throughput of 28.42 million tons, ranking second in the province.
From January to June this year, the cargo throughput of Quanzhou Port increased by 15.56%, with a growth rate higher than the average growth level of the same period in the province (provincial growth rate -0.7%), and basically the same as the increase in cargo throughput of ports nationwide during the same period. From the ranking of port throughput after deducting river sand in the province, Quanzhou Port is second only to Xiamen Port and 9.9 million tons higher than Fuzhou Port, which ranks third. From the ranking of ports above designated size along the coast in China, the ranking of Quanzhou Port remains unchanged, while Xiamen Port and Fuzhou Port have respectively fallen 2 and 5 places compared to the same period last year. The Shihu and Xiaocuo operating areas in Quanzhou fully leverage the advantages of deepwater dock berths, with an increase of 52.89% and 32.19% respectively. The position of the central port area is more consolidated, and the characteristics of port transportation developing towards large-scale and scaled direction are more obvious.
Quanzhou port containers continue to maintain a good trend of high-speed growth, with a total of 458800 TEUs completed, a year-on-year increase of 21%, slightly higher than the average growth level of the same period in the province (a year-on-year increase of 19.4%). Among them, foreign trade containers completed about 20000 TEUs, and domestic trade containers completed 438800 TEUs, an increase of 32.93% and 20.48% respectively. From the perspective of monthly completion, since the container throughput exceeded 90000 TEUs in April, the monthly throughput has repeatedly reached new highs, continuously impacting 100000 TEUs. Foreign trade containers maintained high-speed growth, with a significant increase in growth compared to the same period last year, exceeding the national and provincial average growth levels by 8.7 percentage points and 20.8 percentage points respectively.
The Quanzhou Kinmen route continues to operate smoothly, with a total of 20867 passengers picked up and dropped off in the first half of the year, including 10695 inbound passengers and 10172 outbound passengers. In June of this year, due to the significant increase in Taiwanese pilgrimage teams, the number of Hong Kong people entering and leaving the area in a single month nearly doubled compared to the average volume from January to May this year.
