Recently, Guangzhou Port signed a friendly port memorandum with Incheon Port in South Korea. Chang Min, Director of Guangzhou Port Authority, stated that Guangzhou Port and Incheon Port are both ports with strong comprehensive strength in their respective countries, and have broad cooperation space. The two ports will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in port construction, logistics services, environmental protection, information sharing, etc., achieve complementary advantages, achieve win-win results, and jointly promote the vigorous development of the two ports and their respective economies.
From January to June this year, the cargo throughput of Guangzhou Port exceeded 166 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, and the container throughput reached 4.39 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 43.3%.
Incheon Port faces China across the sea and is the second largest trading port in South Korea. Under the direct influence and promotion of the continuous expansion of economic and trade exchanges between China and South Korea, Incheon Port has become the largest port for South Korea's trade with China. In 2006, the container throughput of Incheon Port was 1.3739 million TEUs, and the import volume of goods to China was 874900 TEUs, accounting for 64% of the total throughput for the year.
